Positively Encouraged

by Mauverneen

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien

No offense, but that is easier said than done, Mr. Tolkien! In my last blog I admitted to being overwhelmed lately with what life has thrown at me. I am trying very hard to organize my time but it's never been my strong suit so I am at a disadvantage. I've always worked better under a looming deadline. But honestly, I'm tired of that. I desperately want to be organized. To get things done, to live calm.
I had a good weekend. I took some photos, found an Eagle's nest, had a private tour of a creepy old building, and went to a party.
My middle daughter's birthday is on St. Patrick's day. And NO - her name is NOT Patricia. I always enjoy parties, especially my kids parties. They all invite me to come hang out with their friends. For that I am not only grateful, but proud. It does my heart good to know that they think I will fit in, enjoy their company, not be too 'mom-ish' for a few hours.
And at this party someone asked my about my blog. My blog that I've been neglecting. And that felt good. Good to know there are people who actually read it, and look forward to it, and want me to keep at it. People I'm not related to.
A word of encouragement, unexpected, can do wonders. It's Positively Tuesday, be that voice of encouragement for someone, that voice of kindness, that voice of friendliness. You may never know how much it means, but it just might make a difference.
So to Kirsten and Deanna - Thank you. A toast:
“Head up, heart open. To better days! T.F. Hodge

Positively Not

by Mauverneen
At the end of a storm is a golden sky  -Richard Rogers

I have not published a blog in several weeks. I apologize. I have been dealing with some issues with a parent.
As a caregiver, living in the same house, my life really isn't always my own. Add to that the fact that she had to go to the hospital for an emergency procedure - well, it's been a little hectic. Seems I haven't had time to be positive.
I try not to complain, but my life being what it is, any narrative sounds like complaining. It is what it is. Wise words.
So, for today, I will concentrate on some projects I am working on. A photo book, a children's book, a novel, and putting together the next edition of a classic car magazine I publish. A lot to keep me busy and looking to the future!
I take a deep breath and think of the words to a song by Richard Rogers. I'm sure you know it.

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams
Be tossed and blown
Walk on
Walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
