Well it’s Positively Tuesday again. The one day a week to
try and not say anything negative. At all. All day.
I came up with the idea because I was tired of hearing so
much complaining – nobody likes their job, or their boss, or their co-workers, or
their weight, or their hair, or their neighbors. The news is depressing, the looming
election does nothing but get everybody riled up, and of course nobody is ever
happy with the weather. It’s either too hot, too cold, too wet or too dry.
With Positively Tuesday I wanted to see if I could maybe
convince a few people to join me in giving up complaining for one whole day every
week. I don’t know if it’s working or not. I’m not even sure anybody ever even
reads my blogs. But I write them – it helps keep me sane.
We’ve heard of random acts of kindness and paying it
forward – other attempts at knocking out some of the negativity we all
encounter. Me? I try to be entertaining, share some of my photos, some of my
travels, some of my writing. Bite my tongue.
I try to keep up on what’s going on in the world but I hate
reading the news. I am horror struck at times at some of what is happening out
there. Maybe giving up the news for one day a week would be a Positive thing - give our nerves a rest.
Sometimes we have to remember to relax, have some fun, find
something to laugh at – preferably ourselves. There is pleasure in simple things;
rain on the roof, the smell of brownies in the oven, a baby’s laughter, a
bubble bath, good food, good company. Music.
It’s Tuesday – pay somebody a compliment, hold open a door,
let someone go ahead of you. Share a joke, share a smile. And don’t forget to
be nice to yourself – treat yourself to an ice cream cone, a new pair of shoes,
a movie or even a good cry if you need one.
I have more than I have not. I try to remember that. I’ve
had my share of hard times and bad luck but I prefer the good times over the
bad and rehashing the bad only makes me relive it and frankly, once was enough.
I’m ready for new and improved. This is not to say I never complain.
Unfortunately I do my share. But it’s Tuesday. I’m Positive. And it feels good
to feel good.
Care to share? Let me know what made your Tuesday Positive.
